News: Speeding leads to fatal U.S. 1 crash in Florida City

by

FLORIDA CITY, FL – A Chevy pickup truck driver was traveling at a high rate on U.S. 1 before crashing into a hotel sign Saturday.

There was another vehicle involved, a Honda sedan, that was also involved in the collision, according to WSVN. Officials said the drivers sideswiped each other.

It is unclear if the Honda driver was injured or sent to the hospital.

A passerby said the force of the collision caused the driver of the pickup truck to also collide with the Denny’s pole, trapping the driver and passenger inside. The bystander tried to help but could not do much. When medics came to their aid, they were able to extricate them. The man and woman died at the scene.

Updates will be posted when they become available.
